ViQueens to Represent
ViQueens to Represent
The ViQueens had their first hit out of 2009 at the Queanbeyan 7s with 13 players turning up for a run. Some for their first ever game of rugby.
The girls defeated the Jindabyne Miss Piggies in the first game and went down to the Uni-NorthsOwls in the second - setting up another meeting with Uni-Norths in the final.
The final was a hard fought affair withthe Owlstaking an early lead. The ViQueens fought back demonstrating definite improvement over the day with some big hits and outstanding defence. The final score was 17 all with tries to Willow, Pip and Kristy, Queensland "import" Anna Robson kicked the extras. Although it was a draw Uni was declared the winner, due to scoring first, and walked away with the prize money. Congratulations to all the girls on a positive start to the season.
Based on performances at Queanbeyan six ViQueens - Willow, Pip, Amanda, Shellie, Carly and Anna - have been selected in the ACT 7s team to play in Sydney on 21 March. This is the biggest representation of any club in the ACT team. Congratulations and good luck girls!
