Committee News – October 2009
- Presentation night went off very well, from all accounts there weren't any major dramas, Chris has thanked Tania, Karen and Cecilia for all their help.
- Chris will be sending out renewal Sponsorship packages for 2010 in November and working hard through November December and January to finalise all sponsorship deals.
- As per email sent out by Chris regarding the Rugby Club running a competition to design our jersey for 2010. It is being run through the Licensed Club promotions also.
- Chris had a meeting with Steve Rollings and Irene Jones regarding the juniors and their kit orders for 2010 and beyond. They are happy to join in with us for ordering.
- Vikings hosted three players that where trialling for the Brumbies Academy. They stayed in the Rugby House during their 3 days in Camp.
- Recruitment is in full swing looking ahead to 2010. We have held our dinner for school leavers. We had a few away finishing up their rugby commitments but the message was well received with representation at the dinner from Erindale, Vikings U18, St Edmunds and Marist
- Brumbies Academy trials have been held. Awaiting the Academy list. Colby Faingaa will be starting full time with the Brumbies in the coming weeks.
- Debriefing of coaching/management groups is going well. There are some issues to overcome and central to this is communication. There has obviously been huge progress this year but there is still further work to be done. All management teams have indicated a desire to remain on for 2010. Glen will be holding a debrief with Marty Harris on the training front and will be meeting with Ed Hollis & Dr Reid in the coming weeks.
- Coaching debrief of the Ladies team will be done this week to finish off.
- Glen will be talking with Dr Reid about flu vaccinations for 2010
- Competion Review - Glen will be seeking a three round competition
· Vikings Academy (Rugby Advancement Program) for 2009/2010 will commence in November. Will follow a strict of season program alongside HPS. Currently in the process of evaluating and selecting an elite group of members (10-12) and to ensure that the program maintains a high quality professional atmosphere.
Brumbies Club Talent Centre Program also kicks off in November. Nominated members to be in by 23rd of Oct. Squad consist of 8 members all turning 16-18 years of age in 2010.
- The juniors had their presentation night of the 23rd of September after a very successful year with 2 teams reaching the Grand Final and with an increased number of 470 registered players for 2009.
· Erindale College had a very successful end of year tour to Perth winning all three games against tough opposition.
- Dean Browne asked whether an outcome had come from the discussions over the incidents that occurred on Grand Final day, at this stage there has been no outcome but Chris believed there will things put in place to prevent this occurring again.
- John McGrath mentioned that the Brumbies v Waratah trial will be going ahead on the 14th of February. The Committee agreed to take on responsibility for the match with the Rugby club providing;

- 4 beveredge outlets including light and heavy beers out of plastic cups
- Canteens will be run by charities
- Viqueens, 2010 Tour party and players from the rugby house will assist but we will need to find approximately 50 people to assist
- Rugby Club to do clean-up
- Rugby club to do parking, seating and ticket checks for reserve and bench seating
- John McGrath, Chris Slack and Martyn O'Brien will be meeting with special events re the requirement for traffic directions for the day we may need to train 4 people
- John McGrath to talk to TTM security about providing security for the match
