Committee News - August 2009

  • Viking have provided sponsorship support to Marist Rugby in 2009.
  • Presentation Night is set down for 18 September. Further details are provided on the Vikings website.
  • The Vikings raised just over $5,000 for Beyond Blue through jumper auction, Hagars Lunch and 2nd Grade facial hair challenge.
  • Vikings will be providing a presentation for school leavers and their parents looking to join Vikings in 2010. The evening will highlight the what is Vikings Rugby and some employment opportunities that the Club may be able to offer.
  • Team photos were rescheduled for 22 August.
  • Recruitment and retention progressing well for 2010.
  • Selection/Qualification meeting on Monday 24 August.
  • Chris Slack discussed the pricing of Presentation Night tickets. The Committee agreed the following:
    • Players Ticket $50, their partner $25
    • Support Staff Free ticket, partner $25
    • Rugby Club Member $50, partner $50
    • Non members $75
  • The Committee Planning Meeting will occur in October with any outcomes to be presented to the 2010 Committee for endorsement.
  • A signed Brumbies jumper will be raffled by the Red Army during the final series.
  • New members joining the Rugby Club for the first time through the Red Army will be submitted to the Rugby Club Committee for endorsement at their September meeting.
  • The Club is undertaking a project to improve the archiving of club history.
  • The Hagars Lunch was a great success and the organising sub committee will be meeting to discuss the future direction of Hagars reunions.
  • McDougal Medal will be held on 28 August at the Auditorium.
  • The Committee has agreed to institute recognition of 10 years of service for support staff. This will be combined with 100 game nights.

· The Committee will be making a submission to ACTRU's Competition Review 2011 and beyond.
