Committee Meeting Update - 16 February 09
New Registrar
Dick Zutt formerly a head honcho with Marist Rugby has put his hand to replace Bob Cooper as the Club's 2009 Registrar. By all accounts, Dick is making his presence known to all and sundry at Viking Park training sessions.
Ground Announcer
After many year's Kevin Wolfe has retired as the Viking Park ground announcer. Anybody interested in making a full season commitment to this task should contact the Rugby Manager, Chris Slack on 0408413515.
RugbyDevelopment Officer
For all that haven't read the March issue of the Licensed Club magazine, following the resignation of Dylan Johnston to take up a position with the AFP, the Committee appointed Emile Wessels as his replacement.
Emile is qualified as a sports teacher and comes with a great depth of experience in the duties of the position. He has had a long association with the Club as a 1st Grade player and is a two World Cup veteran playing for Namibia. The Committee is confident he will apply his determination to achieve in his new job as he has and does his training and playing.
Sponsor News
TTM Security Services has made a welcome upgrade from Bronze to Platinum. The quiet speaking Dave Mailau recognized the value in continuing his association with the Club at the Higher level. This means that all you players playing with Dave have to call him Mister now and not just Dave.
We also welcome a new Club Sponsor, Queanbeyan City Travel (QCT). The Licensed Club has had a long association with Jennifer Cooper from QCT. We look forward to a similar association with the Committee considering using the sponsorship for the Player of the Year Award. Watch this spot and be sure to make Jennifer welcome by using the QCT services.
Season Launch
The Committee decided to re-introduce the Season Launch function. Details will be published later by put Monday Night, 11 May in your Diary.
Membership By-law
Following representations from a members and players about the role of the Social Club (Red Army), the Committee decided that non-playing membership of the Club would increase to $40.00 for 2009. Payment of the subscription, either to the Registrar, Dick Zutt or at the Red Army Bunker or the Rugby Office will ensure full club membership rights and Red Army entitlements. This means that Red Army membership, by itself no longer exists.
Our President, Dave Assenhiem will be writing to all financial members informing them of the Membership By-law in the very near future.
